Restart in Phase 1 of Government route map

The Captain and the match committee are eagerly anticipating the return to the golf course planned for Friday May 29th.  Everyone should be aware of the steps taken by the club to ensure we return in a fashion that meets the Scottish Golf guidelines and satisfies the Scottish Government’s rules on social distancing.

Like most of our members we are also keen to see the restart of competition golf.  We have looked at methods of holding competitions using ideas to avoid handling other player’s scorecards and perhaps introducing local rules to deal with the many unusual playing conditions…unraked bunkers etc.

After reviewing the guidance issued by Scottish Golf and considering the restrictions in place to maintain social distancing, we have decided not to re-introduce competition golf during phase 1 of the restart.  This is what is recommended in schedule 1 of the Scottish Golf guidance online.  In addition it was felt that a competition restart at this stage would be unfair to the many members who are currently excluded from returning to our course due to the government guidelines  i.e. those who live more than 5 miles from the golf course and those shielding.

We hope you understand the reasons for this decision and alsohope it won’t be long until things change and this situation can be reviewed.
